The Coalition for Women and Children is an Issue Committee in Colorado that is working to place a late-term abortion ban on the ballot for 2020. Starting in April, we will need to collect additional signatures to bridge the gap between the valid signatures we turned in and the state minimum. This requires printing petitions, mailing the petitions around Colorado, hosting training for volunteers, and running an educational campaign that reaches out to volunteers, churches, and the member groups who are part of our coalition.

Once we qualify for the ballot, the real battle begins. We will face a multi-million dollar advertising campaign by the abortion industry.

Currently called “Initiative 120,” the late-term abortion ban would stop abortion in Colorado at 22 weeks. 22 weeks is the modern standard of “viability” where babies can survive outside the womb. Scientific studies show babies at 22 weeks old experience and respond to pain.

Initiative 120 does provide an exception if the life of the mother is at risk, and it does not criminalize women. However, any doctor who does a late-term abortion after this Colorado law passes will be subject to a misdemeanor charge and a mandatory 3-year license suspension. You can read the initiative in full here:

Right now, Colorado is home to one of the most infamous late-term abortion clinics in the nation, where women are charged $30,000 to abort their child. Women have suffered documented injuries at this clinic, and the clinic has also created “abortion tourism” in Colorado. The clinic advertises they will do abortions for any reason, including Down syndrome and a cleft lip. Children with disabilities are targeted with late-term abortion in Colorado.

It is time to end this violence to our children that also harms women and families. Join the Coalition for Women and Children, and contribute to our campaign today.

Help Us End Late-Term Abortion in Colorado in 2020!

Colorado is 1 of only 7 states that still allows abortion for any reason until the day of birth with no restrictions. It’s time for Colorado to enact a 22-week abortion ban to say NO to late-term abortions in our state. At 22 weeks, babies can survive outside the womb, and scientific studies show they experience pain.
