Next month, I will depart for Antarctica, by way of boat from the southern most city in the world, Ushuaia, Argentina, to run the Antarctica Marathon with about 90 other runners from around the world.

I will be joining my brother-in-law, Matt, to run in honor of my niece and Matt’s daughter, Josie, who lost her brave battle with pediatric brain cancer (DIPG) on August 8th, 2015.  When Josie was receiving her treatments during her illness, one of her nurses had recently returned from running the Antartica Marathon, and telling her experience to Matt put a fire in his belly:  “When we beat this….I am going to run that marathon”.  We later decided, we’re doing it, and we’re doing it for Josie.

We depart March 9th, exactly 4 years and one day since receiving her terminal diagnosis. Four years to the day of waking up and realizing it all wasn’t just a terrible nightmare.

Please join us in Josie’s Journey to Antarctica, where we know she’ll be running with us every step of the way.  Help us remember and honor Josie by making a contribution to benefit The Cure Starts Now, an organization which believes it’s not about fighting just one cancer, but the elimination of cancer as a whole. In order to truly cure cancer you have to focus on those cancers that are the biggest bullies like DIPG.  The Cure Starts Now is the first cancer charity dedicated to this “homerun cure” – curing cancer, one child at a time, through innovative research and collaboration.

Thank you to all who have donated!
