Mesa Arch is one of the most iconic sites in Canyonlands National Park, yet the National Parks Service is struggling to maintain the facilities that enable visitors to enjoy this and many other scenic treasures. Congress is debating solutions, but the national park needs funds today and you can help.

We’re asking for your support to help Canyonlands National Park by contributing today to our “Parks in Wreck” Challenge.

Sign to preserve Mesa Arch at Canyonlands National ParkSeveral sites within Canyonlands are victim of the park’s popularity and need significant repairs totaling $40.7 million. Mesa Arch requires $73,000 to repair the quarter-mile dirt trail leading up to the majestic sandstone formation overlooking the Colorado River hundreds of feet below. Across Canyonlands, funding is needed to fix trails, campgrounds, roads, and other infrastructure.

Money raised will go directly to the non-profit Friends of Arches and Canyonlands Parks to fix scenic treasures like the Mesa Arch trail.

Our goal is modest. Much more will needed to preserve this popular destination, but this is a signal to Congress to fund our National Parks properly.

National Parks Loved to Death

In addition to raising funds for Canyonlands, we ask you to join us in challenging lawmakers in Washington, DC, to pass the Restore Our Parks bills (S. 500 and H.R. 1225). Throughout the entire National Park system, there’s a maintenance backlog of $12 billion. Underfunding means trails, campgrounds, visitor centers, roads and other facilities are crumbling. Every national park in America has critical maintenance needs stacking up.

Maintenance workers at Canyonlands National ParkThe Restore Our Parks Act would take money the government collects from oil and natural gas production on non-park, non-wilderness public lands and use it for park maintenance. Over five years, $6.5 billion would be dedicated to fix national parks. Western Energy Alliance strongly supports this legislation.

At a time when Washington is severely divided, the bill is a rare bipartisan solution with support from more than 330 Democrats and Republican lawmakers, Vice President Mike Pence and Interior Sec. David Bernhardt.

Our national parks are being loved to death. Canyonlands is just one example.

Please help us repair Canyonlands and other national parks by urging Congress to pass the Restore Our Parks Act.

Thank you for your support.
